NEPAD Participates at the Sixth PIAC Meeting Held in Mpumalanga | 16 May 2008 |

The sixth meeting of the Presidential International Advisory Council on Information Society and Development (PIAC on ISAD) took place from 2 to 3 September 2006 at Pestana Kruger Lodge in Mpumalanga Province, South Africa.
The PIAC on ISAD is comprised of a group of Chief Executive Officers, Presidents, heads of major international corporations and experts who are active in the field of Information and Communications Technology. It meets once a year to advise the President on trends in the ICT sector and how South Africa can take advantage of opportunities presented by ICTs in pursuit of economic growth and poverty eradication.
The issues discussed at the meeting were e-skills development, telecommunications market structure and digital migration.
The annual PIAC meeting, which was presided over by HE the President of South Africa, Thabo Mbeki, was also attended by NEPAD, telecom companies, and other interested parties in Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs) industry.Dr Henry Chasia, the Executive Deputy Chairperson of the NEPAD e-Africa Commission represented his organization.
